Is your concrete ready for a metallic finish?

Metallic epoxy is a decorative floor, so the reasons people choose it differ from a garage coat. Below are the situations that bring them to it. A few mean the slab needs extra prep first.

Bare after carpet

Slabs left patchy when carpet or tile comes up. With careful grinding and patching, metallic turns them into a finished floor.

Old tile adhesive

Glue and thinset residue has to come off completely. Metallic shows every ridge left behind.

Patched areas

Metallic will not hide repairs the way flake does. Patches get ground flush, or they telegraph through.

Flat showroom floor

Shops and offices along Spring Mountain Road want a floor customers notice, and one that mops clean at closing.

Dark damp spots

Dark patches on bare concrete point to moisture coming up. We test before any decorative resin goes down.

Strong window sun

Epoxy ambers under UV. Rooms with hard sun get a UV-stable top coat and a straight talk about limits.

Valley interiors

What makes a metallic floor work in a Spring Valley home?

A flat, smooth and dry concrete surface. Metallic epoxy shows what is underneath, which reveals any grinding marks, glue lines and patch areas. The median house in Spring Valley was built in 1999, so many of the slabs will have holes left from the tack strip, tile thinset or old sealer. We grind using vacuum shrouds to create a smooth, even surface. We then check for dampness and grind any patches down to be even. We use a pigmented primer, because its color affects the finish. The metallic coating is applied by hand using rollers, brushes or air. A clear top coat is then applied. Only suitable for interior rooms.

How it works

From color idea to finished floor

1

Share ideas

Send photos of the room, its rough size and the colors you like. Pictures of floors you have seen elsewhere help us aim the look.

2

Room visit

We check the slab for moisture, old adhesive and cracks, go over color samples with you, and send a written estimate for the room.

3

Set the date

Furniture comes out before we start. We agree a date that keeps the room empty through grinding, coating and the full cure.

4

Pour and seal

Primer, a hand-worked metallic coat, then a clear top. Grinding dust goes into the vacuum, and the room is left swept.

Why us

A floor finished by hand

Metallic is the least forgiving floor we lay. The result rides on prep, primer color and how the wet coat is worked, and you get one pass at the pattern. We grind until the slab is even, show samples first, and put the plan in writing. Locally owned.

  • Samples before the pour
  • Primer color matched to design
  • Adhesive and patches ground flush
  • Moisture tested before resin
  • Clear top coat takes the wear
  • Grit added where slip matters

Metallic basics

It is clear epoxy carrying metallic pigment, poured over a tinted primer and worked by hand while wet to create swirls, depth and a marbled look. A clear top coat seals it. No two floors come out alike, and that is the point.
A glossy metallic floor can be slick when wet, like most smooth finishes. We can broadcast a fine aggregate or mix a texture additive into the top coat for grip. We show you a sample first, so you can judge the trade between grip and gloss.
Usually, if the slab is sound and dry. We test moisture first. At a vapor emission of 3 pounds per 1,000 square feet per day or higher, a mitigation primer goes down before anything decorative. Carpet glue, thinset and old sealer get ground off completely.
It depends on room size, how much prep the slab needs, and how involved the design is. Removing tile thinset or carpet adhesive adds grinding time; a multi-color pattern adds labor. We see the space, agree the look, and give you the price in a written estimate.
Yes. Besides Spring Valley neighborhoods such as Spanish Trail and Rhodes Ranch, we take metallic jobs in Summerlin, Enterprise, Henderson, Paradise, North Las Vegas and the city of Las Vegas. Shops, salons and offices are welcome too, and we can plan around business hours.

Planning and care

A long time indoors when the prep is right, because the clear top coat takes the wear, not the pattern. Scratches show more on glossy metallic than on flake, so felt pads and a mat at the door help. When the top coat dulls, it can be abraded and recoated.
Empty it completely, and pull baseboards if you want the coating to run to the wall. Plan to stay out through grinding, coating and the full cure. Keep pets out and doors shut; windblown dust settling on wet resin is the enemy of a clean finish.
Slab grinding with vacuum collection, a moisture test, crack and patch work ground flush, a pigmented primer, the metallic coat and a clear top coat. Color sampling happens before the pour. Steps or a cove base can be added and are listed on the estimate.
Indoors, yes, including show garages kept closed. Outdoors, no. Epoxy ambers under UV, and Las Vegas sun reaches the extreme range in summer. For a patio, or a garage that sits open to afternoon light, a polyaspartic system is the better call.
Dust-mop daily so grit does not scratch the gloss, then damp-mop with a mild cleaner. Dry any standing water, because valley tap water is very hard and leaves mineral spots as it dries. Wipe spills quickly and the shine holds.
